polarizer filter question

I am about to shoot few images through glass in museum , and i will like to know what is the best for this job .
they told me i will need this filter to shoot through glass , but i see there is 2 kind of this filters , the cicular and the other ones .. witch one is the best for this job ? any good idea ? thie thing i want to do is not have a reflection from the glass ..

Buy a circular polariser. In case you have a UV filter attached to your lens, then first remove that. Then attach the circular polariser to your lens. When you rotate the polariser you will find at one point all the reflections are cut off. Then shoot.

Good advice given by Sabyasachi. CPs are best for Auto Focus cameras. RE UV filters I find they are not a good idea unless you really need the anti UV effect. If you just use them as protective covers you are most likely better off removing them as they can reduce IQ. If you are shooting in areas dangerous to your lenses, like around geysers, then use the protection.

Kostas the circular polarizer is need for the metering in the new cameras.

For shooting through glass your best bet if possible is using a rubber lens hood and getting it up against the glass.

btw use the polariser if you have to only since you will be loosing up to 2 1/2 stops of light !!!
