I love doing in-camera effects. This was taken across a river in the Adirondacks during fall peak colors. I used a 70-200mm canon lens mounted to the tripod with the collar. @70mm, ISO100, f/32, 4seconds. I focused on a distant birch tree then loosened the collar and slowly rotated the camera CW and CCW a few times while I released the shutter. Just some basics levels done in PP. Pretty easy but got some fun images as a result.

Nick, Beautiful colors and the effect really came out good. Thank you for sharing your work flow. I love the tree in the center. Well done.:)

Nick, That is a very cool image! I like how you kept the blue on the bottom and the fall colors on top by moving CW and CCW instead of 360 (if I understood right). I've tried zooming and just moving the cam around, but never rotated like this. Thanks much for sharing your technique. It reminds me that when i do have some time to go give this a try, I need to bring my neutral density filters to get longer shutter speeds.

Nick, this is a really neat technique! It looks like an eyeball. I like the colors and the fact that the trees in the
center are, well, in the center:p

I saw this this morning and really liked it. I, too, never thought to blur in this way so thanks so much for sharing! I like the soft pastels that are in this but if you pumped up the contrast with a curves adjustment I think you might get more bang for your buck. I think both ways would work well. This would be a really great large print!

I like the image and especially the concept but strangely thought that it needed more pop and some sharpening... This the repost. :)

fascinating! I like how the 'ghost tree' in the center is still recognizable. Very creative and a cool effect :)
