Been playing around with the usefulness of Fractalius in creating etching type images, and been pretty happy with the results. Usual dup layer/ apply fractalius to upper layer, merge mode overlay and adj opacity.

Excellent!! Beautiful work Bill. I think the comp. and the colors work really well. I also think that the filter amount you added is perfect. I might think about decreasing the size of the outline on the white of the head just a bit. I also can't help but think a tiny bit more of a catchlight might bring the eye to life a little more. All said-This is one of your best IMO. Actually one of the best frac. jobs I've seen.:)

You're really getting the hang of that Fract program, Bill! This is beautiful - nice, soft lighting and the fract on the bird is perfect. Really well done - I agree with Denise that this is one of your best. ;)
I don't know much about the Fractalius program, but I think looking into it would be fun! Excellent results here, and I love the detail and comp and the lovely neutral tones. Beautiful!

Appreciate the feedback! Nick: indeed it was a good image to start with, and I think that the quality of base images is the greatest determining factor on whether the result is successful(IMO), at least with this and similar techniques. Thanks! regards~Bill
