I attempted to recreate the "look" of some of the old photos I took with a Kodak Brownie many years ago growing up in Galveston. I tried to duplicate the yellowed color, the graininess, the lack of sharpness, the lack of dynamic range and that ratty scalloped border of the old prints.
I converted to B&W, added a sepia tone, added noise, blurred, increased contrast to reduce dynamic range, added white canvas for the border, grunged it up and cloned the border scallops from an old scanned photo.

Patti, You really aged this one! I like the comp. but might take a bit off the bottom if it were mine. The scallop border is a nice touch. You really get a sense of an old photo when viewing this w/ the grain and OOF left area. The color toning looks good.:)

I agree that you have achieived your goal. Nicely done and I agree with Denise about considering a touch off the bottom. Still a pleasing image. Congrats

Ditto on the comp; great work on the 'old.' Your edge treatment really compliments the theme. Nice work!

Nice image and application, Patti.
While I agree with Denise, I would like to keep the grass in the lower right to fill that area. Personally, I think I would leave it uncropped. But ...
Your image ... Your vision.

Nice work, Patti! Definitely looks like an old photo :). I especially like the scalloped edge.

Thanks all for the comments and cropping suggestion. I also feel that the bird needs to come down and bit and I have way too much of the posts in the comp. The problem I had was that, as Mark mentioned, I wanted to keep the grass and I also needed to keep the square aspect ratio because that's what my Brownie shot. I suppose I could have cloned the grass up... but I would have lost my nice blurry left side of the posts and anyway, all that cloning would have been too much like work.:D

Patti, I like it the way it is. I love the blurry left side and the grain and the composition. Well done.
