This is a common theme in Chinese painting... I created this as a composite; extracted the fisherman with the boat and the cormorants from different images using remask2. Used a brush to draw the hat. Created a gradient bg and merged the layers. Applied flood. Converted to b&w and changed opacity to bring back some of the details. Merged layers and applied topaz simplify and added the chop to get the final image.
I was in two minds if I should make this a dark silhouette or keep some details on the subject. Your C&C will be appreciated...

Indranil, I'm liking this as presented but I'm sure a silhouette would work also. I kinda wish it had some more canvas even thought the composition looks well balanced. Nice pp work w/ the extraction and the addition of the hat.:)

Indranil, Nice work! I like the detail in the subject as is. I am not sure about the balance here though. If this was a creation of mine, I would reduce the size of the calligraphy and chop substantailly and move them both to the upper right corner. As posted elements seem to draw too much away from the main subject (IMO).

Indranil, Your repost really work better for me! My eye travels from the fisherman to the birds to the direction of boat travel and then ....... there is your chop! Cool!

Like the repost Indranil, and the cormorant with the oustretched wings is neat. Very lovely monochromatic palette too.

this immediately made me think of a pbs special I watched years ago called 'he dances for his cormorants'.. this shows that ancient tradition so very well. Lovely tones and a well balanced comp :)
