Nikon D200, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 + TC 1.7 @ 290mm. F/8, 1/250, ISO 500. Manual mode.
Backyard set-up, hide. Wish I had stopped down a little for extra DOF, the birds flew off before I could change settings.

Caroline:
This is lovely. The color from the feet and leaves, balanced against the muted colors of the background and birds plumage, is very nice. The opposing front and back views, with two good head positions, the tails angling towards each other without touching, all excellent. I find the DOF adequate, and any slower on the shutter speed would be iffy.
This is one to be proud of.

Beautiful image Caroline!!! I really like how they have opposite posed positions, yet they are both looking at the viewer. The background is fantastic as are the snowflakes throughout!
Beautiful work, Caroline. I am fine with the dof, love the birds' positions, the icy branch, and the falling snow. Very pretty.
I agree with the comments above. I also appreciate the depth of the subtle colors of the doves. Also the blurring of the snow flakes fits with the whole composition.
Very nice

Carolyn. This is spectacular. The soft colors are wondrous and the compositional balance is superb. The snow, and especially the single leaf on the lower right put it over the top. Not to mention the superb d-o-f.
Absolutely stunning. The white underneath the left birds tail and the snow/ice collected on the bottom of the branches gives the effect that the birds have been lit from below. 10 out of 10 from me!!!:)
A very nice shot Caroline! Love the HA on both birds, the setting and the colours in this one. Very well done!!
I like the winter light, setting, head angles and mood and would not worry about DOF, either.
Beautiful shot Caroline an excellent composition. Well Done!
No need for more DOF...this is fantastic!! The tails almost touching give a sense of connection (almost like holding hands), as if they are a couple:) Nice reflector effect from the snow below.
Ah...what a beautiful shot. The soft light gives it a very unique feel. Does full justice to the subtle beauty of these birds. Loved the comp and DOF is perfect. Huge congrats.
Very "painterly" looking. Well done. Caroline.
