This is a composite... I had this image of stormy sky with partially formed rainbow taken a while ago. Used DAP and then used Topaz simplify on another layer and blended with different opacity. Extracted the Egret from another image using Topaz remask. Used multiple adjustment layers and then applied the sandstone texture to get the final effect. Hope you like it...

Hi Indranil,
I like this one a lot. The mood and feel are excellent and you did some very good PP work! My only thought is that the color balance on the bird doesn't match very well with the rest of the image. I would be inclined to adjust the warm color more toward the white point in the bg. Very nice! Love the rainbow and moody sky together.

Indranil, Great idea to add the filters, they esp. look neat on the rainbow. I like the comp. and the added warmth.

Indranil, you guys are killing me with all these wonderful efects. The egret looks in deep thought, and just love that sky.

wonderful combination of effects Indranil.. I've been playing with the remask program and it's much more difficult (at least to me) than it looks. Love the painterly sky and the pose of the egret fits the comp to a t. Marvelous work :)

Indranil,
That really made a difference! Nicely done. It adds drama to the scene!!
Cindy - are you using Remask2?

That repost just POPS! Fantastic use of layers and good eye putting everything together. Kerry's suggestion really puts it over the top.

I love the treatment and the combination of the sky and the bird are perfect. But there is a big compositional problem that nobody has commented on--the whole thing is weighted to the center... If you have more source material, the sky, I would love to see a version with the rainbow on the far left and the bird on the right as it is now. That would likely eliminate the white cloud on our left which is a nice element. Best of all worlds solution? If you have lots more sky on the right I would go with a pano with the bird on the right and the rainbow and the white cloud on the far left.

Hi Artie, thanks for taking time to comment. I did have doubts on the center-weighted composition but then thought the bird would be the focus and not the rainbow. I should have tried a pano which would have solved just as you have suggested. Here is a repost with the added canvas and moving the egret to further right. Also lightened the sky a bit as it looked a dark on the pano.

Well done Indranil! It is much stronger compositionally now. Do you have any more sky for behind the bird? (Go Jets!)

Thanks for the plug Indranil. I am quite proud of how DB that has developed and I learned a ton from APTATS I. And now APTATS II has taught me to be comfortable with layer masking, even with adding a layer mask to a QM.. :) Just sent a DB today as a gift to a mutual friend of ours... :)
