Tried my hand at motion blurs on some Cape Gannets towards the end of last year.
Cropped a bit off the image top, bottom and right to eliminate some distracting waves.

The eye is so sharp and the blur of the wings give a sense of speed Love the picture

I like the idea, BG and the fact that the head is sharp. Makes the gannet almost look like a hummingbird. :)

I think the pastel coloring of the entire image helps this effect. Nicely done at that shutter speed. It does appear a bit 'ghostly' as a head-in-flight but I do like the creativeness of your image. Beautiful bird they are!

Albert, I think the affect and the result both are great:). I am just not yet on the level where this type of photography appeals to my personal taste.:o I love your crisp birds better, ever since your broadbilled roller at it's nest hole some years ago - I think it was shot with an F5 at the time.

Thanks for the comments folks - Callie yes one I suppose needs to develop a taste for this type of photography ;) I should post that Roller some time :) - it was shot with a Nikon F1 and a 640mm Novoflex....

The sharp head, blurred wings and pastel colors make for a pleasing image, Albert. Well done.

Nice post Albert. I am on the "loving it" side. Maybe the eye could have been just a bit sharper but the head stands out enough to keep the focus. Very cool.

Like this very much, Albert, and the colours work really well with the soft blur. Glad to see you posting here, looking forward to your images.
