Weekly Theme: Yellow Frills (textured)

This hearty perennial flower (that I've already forgotten the name of) thrives well in our wooded habitat, and for some reason our local deer herd avoids eating them, at least until the rest of the flowers are history. I added a couple of texture layers to this one, blending in soft light opacity mode, and used the lasso tool to erase as I went along.

Hi Cindy, Looks like it might be a variety of Coreopsis. The petals look perfectly placed. Fantastic color choice to compliment the sunny looking flower. Very lovely image!:)

coreopsis, that's it. I can id almost every wildflower that grows in Michigan, but for some reason, cultivated flowers just don't stick in my wittle head. I just plant them, and the deer eat them ;) thanks Denise :)

I don't have many deer by me, but I do have lots of hungry rabbits:)

oh we have those lil rascals too.. our squirrels and chipmunks even tear up most of my flowers. It's really a lost cause, but I keep trying :)

I love the texture with the hints of pastel blues, greens and yellows. It is a perfect compliment to your flower.

Beautiful color palette, Cindy - I love how soft and flowing it all feels. I do think it's a little tiny bit tight at the bottom but I've always liked a little room in my images so its probably just me.

I think if I saw this hanging in an art gallery I'd be hard pressed to tell you if it was a painting or a photograph - I love it when that happens. :D

Cindy, I love the color combination and the lighting and the textures - it's just beautiful. It does look like a
coreopsis - I have coreopsis in my yard that are wild flowers and they are one of the deer's favorite munchies:)
In fact, I just finally gave in and put a high fence around an area where I can move my flowers and grow some
vegetables.

thanks all.. after posting it, I did notice it was a bit tight on the bottom and I should have added a bit more canvas there. Easy fix that I'll do if I ever print this one. :)

I'm partly to blame for the havoc the wildlife creates by having so many bird feeders with feed that attracts many other animals.. most are fun (like the flying squirrel that came out in the cold to eat seed late last night) but some are a bit hair-raising (like the black bears that demolish the feeders every time they've visited). I guess I've pretty much thrown out a 'welcome mat' for them all, even though it means watching my flowers turn into a meal. ;)
