Power for canon 5D
I have noticed that fully charged batteries last less than 5 minutes when shooting outdoors with a 600mm F4 lens. Is this due to the outdoor temperature of 18F in Minnesota? Should I try a third party power supply?
Your thoughts on this matter is appreciated.

Sounds like the battery is coming to its life end. I have used my 5D last year in Spitsbergen and the batteries needed a warm-up after 2-3 hours in the cold.

You're using a Lithium Ion battery and all Li-on batteries have a maximum life of about 5 years from date of manufacture. The active ingredient has deteriorated to the point that the battery can only hold a charge for about 30 minutes, combine that with the cold and you have a battery lasting 5 minutes.

Bernard and Jeff, thanks for your response. New batteries are easily giving me two hours of outdoor shooting with about 50 discharge.
Thanks again, RRRoberts.:D
