Joel - great BG, exposure and eye catch. I might try a vertical in this one. A bit of a head turn toward us would have been nice.
Perch, pose and BG look very good, it just needs a head turn toward you. Do you have other images in this series with the bird facing you more?

Good critique from Dan. I would def. try a vertical, as the right side of the frame doesn't add much for me.
Head angle is a common theme on this site. It does add to the sense of interaction with the bird when he is turned more towards you. There are some images where the story being told works with the head angled away, but in general, strive to capture it with the head angled towards you.

NIce captures Joel, Head angle greatly strengthens the 2nd image. I prefer the composition and breathing room you posted on the first one though. The OOF shrub helps balance the frame.
