Josiah:
Classic nuthatch pose, well exposed, sharp on the eye and head.
Good use of the side light.
I might try to down play the massiveness of the perch by reducing the brightness a bit, and might consider a small crop to help decrease the amount of perch showing, and decenter the bird a bit more.
Thanks for sharing.

Josiah:
I had a second, so reworked your image with the above changes.
Small crop from left
Lowered the exposure on trunk by 1/2 stop using a quick mask.
I did notice as I was working on it, that there is a sharpening halo around the head.
Just some options for you to consider. By the way, the maximum posting size is 1024 by 800. Your original was a bit bigger than that.

Josiah - I like the head angle, background and eye catch. Nicely captured. The perch is very prominent and detracts a bit from the bird. Personally, I would prefer to not see the rear end of the bird going out of focus - would prefer either head on or full in focus side view.
Pose and BG look good. I find the protruding branch underneath the bird distracting and the blacks in that area are blocked. I also wish for a bit more eye contact. Keep them coming!
You have received some good critique and suggestions from other here.
The thing about nut hatches is they are often on a huge perch. You did well with the capture though.
Keep clicking. I want to see more.
I call Randy's re-post and raise him one protruding branch less as per Axel's suggestion. Also did a Gaussian blur on the sort of mess in the urc.... Then added BLACK to the WHITES in Selective Color.
Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions and thank you to Randy and Author for doing the repost's as well.
