Hi Dave. Even though the males look spectacular, the females are pretty too. I like the pose and eye contact. The image appears a little soft on my monitor. And I would desaturate the BG a bit. A smaller perch might create more visual balance.

To my eye it's an improvement. But I'd add a bit of canvas on the left and a little more at the bottom of the frame.
Yes, I like the toned down BG too Dave and agree with Doug's rer-composition suggestion. Otherwise, great shot.
Hi Dave - I've never seen the female. Very nice image with an even better repost. Indigo bunting females are also subdued in color. Thanks for illustrating the difference on painteds with a fine image.
