I took this photo of a milkweed plant late fall of 2008. I desaturated the colors a bit, added one or two blur overlays, and added the falling snow. I'm not sure which crop I prefer, this landscape crop or the portrait crop below. Would like to hear your opinions.

Christopher, I prefer the portrait w/ a tiny bit more room up top, but I did like the landscape just fine before I saw the other. I like the flow of the milkweed and the BG colors are complimentary. Nicely done w/ the snow.

I like them both as well. I think the landscape gives room for all those seeds to blow in the wind, but the portrait does seem to be a better balanced composition. Muted colors are perfect for the end of a season.

My preference is portrait. I think the details on the milkweed really comes alive here with those snowflakes. Agree with Denise on a tiny bit more space on top. Excellent composition!

Thanks everyone for your input. Denise and Indranil, now that I look at the portrait crop again I think you're right on a little more room on top. I don't have any more room on top in the original(the landscape shot is the full frame), but it shouldn't be too difficult to add a bit more canvas to it.

Christopher, I like the portrait better. It's a nice image with just the right amount of snow.
