Dave, I'm loving this pine cone too! The color tones are gorgeous and work so well against the dark BG. I love the painted look to this, and I would never of thought of doing a DAP treatment to a pine cone, nice work!

Rembrandt- like treatment Dave, great job of bring out the texture and I love the amber colour. Just wondering about all the neg space in the ULC?? Probably just me though. Also love the canvas texture coming through.

Dave, beautiful light and richness in the colors. It look like an Old World painting. I think I might like a sliver off
the top (above the tip of the cone) to reduce a little of the negative space but that's really nit picking a gorgeous piece of work.:)

I love the lighting, contrast and the painterly look. I like the position in the frame as well.

Ditto on Rembrandt...I really like these old style paintings, texture is bang on, just enough detail...good one

Thanks for all the comments and crop suggestions.
Here I took some off the top to reduce ULC dead space.
Looks good to me....thanks for the vision

I know I'm against the grain here but I did like the negative space. I felt it was part of the allure.

Dave,
I agree with Denise, I like the first version better. A very creative vision in this image and placing the pine cone on a diagonal strengthens the composition.
