I wished for flat water and lower angle, but I still like it since this individual has perfect breeding plumage.

One of the most handsome and shy of ducks good capture of it ,but would suggest the head area needs a little sharpening to it
Karl - Nice eye contact and lighting is fine too. I know how tough these teal can be to photograph. On my monitor it looks like the blacks can be improved a pinch via levels adjustment or a slight contrast boost. Also looks like the bird may have been turned angled slightly from the sensor? I wouldn't mind trying a little more sharpening on the full bird.
Nice feather details, I am ok with HA. I would tone down the BG and increase the contrast to give it more pop, focus seems to be on the wig rather than head so I would selectively sharpen head.
