This is part of my recent dabble with B&W to enhance texture in wildlife shots. Captured this image in the heat of the day in the Kalahari. Converted to B&W, cropped to pano, applied Gaussian blur to the BG and added vignetting with CS3.
Your input much appreciated - I quite like the effect created here.

Morkel, This is a great look. I think you are on to something here. The top looks a bit cut off, maybe you could inc. the grass heads at the top.

I agree with Denise that the top looks oddly cropped and I'm not sure I love the white hot edges...maybe if you pulled them back just a little so they were not quite so overblown? Love the image...it certainly tells a story!
