I have always found watching the birds soar, no matter what the species, to be one of the most peaceful events of the day. Seeing a single bird soar at dawn and dusk adds to the peacefulness. While this image was a daylight shot, at Merritt Island NWR, the lighting was added to give an evening feel to it.
I used Dry Brush, Dark Strokes, Spot Light tinted, Canvas Texture and Bas Relief.
Enjoy!

Mark, I agree that watching birds soar can be very peaceful to watch. I like the golden tones and the embossed look to the bird. I might give this a pano crop to eliminate the darker portions in the BG. (if it were mine):)

Excellent treatment, Mark. I like it. The pano crop does look a bit better but to my eye, both are nice.

I really like the way OOTB treatment you have done here. The light and dark golds are so beautiful and the texture makes it look more like a fabric. I really like how the bird stands out from the background but at the same time seems to be a part of it?? I don't know how to explain.
