Shot this out in Calif a few years back. These make great subjects but one must really work at getting a good composition since there is alot of merging and extraneous backround material.

Dave, I like the composition and the conversion is nice also. Very cool looking image!
Love it Dave. Is that an IR or just b&W with some adjustments? I can't get enough of these IR and B&W...
Hi Nick, It's a converted image using Nik Silver FX..Highly recommended plug in. Go to Nik's site and check it out..
Love the subject Dave ...the conversion works well... but i keep feeling that it needs more space on the LHS...

I can see where a sliver more on the left would be nice but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Gosh, that tree...wow! What an interesting subject and you did a beautiful job of finding just the right angle. Everything looks lined up and yet totally random. Only suggestion I can think to make is that there is a pretty obvious light/dark area in the clouds - almost in a diagonal line across the sky. I wonder if making that more of a gradual shift between the light/dark convergence would add or detract from the sky? Hmm...
I love these trees. I'd darken the sky to black and boost contrast a bit just to make it pop more. These were made for B&W
Great subject, Dave! Love the image. Perfect comp.
