I like to think that I generally know what is going to come out of my camera for a given shot, but...
I was shooting egrets after the sun went down, using my flash as the primary light source. I heard a bird fly out from behind a tree so I panned the camera up and pushed the button. Imagine my surprise to find this shot when I downloaded the images. I haven't done a thing to it other than re-size for uploading. With some NR and playing around I think I can make something cool with it, but I couldn't believe how interesting it is just the way it was captured! :)

Hi Dan. That was the strangest thing... The camera decided to expose at 1/15th and the flash made that "pop" sound that it would do when flashing at full power. Freaky! Even stranger is that I had the camera set for first curtain sync, but I could swear that the flash fired at the end of the exposure.

Kerry very cool effect! It's amazing to me some of the images that can be produce in camera w/o trying:):D I like the sense of motion and the leaves are very interesting. Thanks for sharing your creation!!

Hi Kerry, I like your use of color and the way you created the leaves on the left. I would have liked to have seen the bird somewhat lower in the frame. It looks like it's leaving the image. Not sure if I like the idea of half the bird dark and the other half very light.

Cool image for right out of the camera, Kerry. It really created an interesting effect for the leaves - looks almost like frost on a window pane. I hope you continue to see what else you can do with it.

What a cool image, Kerry! Like the effect you got, particularly on the leaves. Would be nice if the bird was lower in the frame, but great image nonetheless!

This is pretty cool Kerry. Love the flashed eye too. I would be very happy if this came out of my camera.
