Tried this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and really blew the subject right out!! This time it was very cloudy and I had no chance of getting anything but a grey bg so concentrated on getting detail on the whites on the bird, then did some PP work and added a tiny bit of speckle. Does it work?

Hi Jeni, I think the image works very nicely with the HK BG. I wish the foot wasn't covering the beak. I love the pose and the head. I might tone down the one leg just a bit and give it a bit more room all around. Well done and I think you did a great job handling the exposure!!

Nice job with this HK marabou, Jeni. Great pose, and I agree with other points mentioned by Denise.

Hi Jeni, Nice use of color and detail. Agree with Denise regarding the foot and also more room on the top, bottom and right.

Nice capture Jeni.
I would suggest that you add a little contrast and crop it as well. I have attached one option for your consideration.
The grey area represents the expanded canvas. One nice thing about HK is that the BG is white! ;) So you can paint bucket it to match the other BG area.
Your image ... Your vision

Hi Jeni,
I like the color rendition, agree with Lady Denise on the techs. and good advise. This does make a very nice high-key image...

Well done with this Jeni. Was the stork cleaning its bill?

Thanks all - appreciate the advice.
Mark, I left more space in front of the bird as it was landing - given advice on cropping I've had here and in other sections I'm a bit confused re composition right now!!:o
However, will keep on posting til I get one right!!!
Akos, as said above, it was landing and had to grab the branch to secure it's balance.:) Will post the next shot where the beak was clear.
