I attempted to change my photo of a male Pyrrhuloxia (check that bill) into one of a male Cardinal. I used selections and Hue/Sat to do it.
Equip: Canon 50D and Canon 400mm f5.6 L USM
Settings: 1/1000, f5.6, ISO 160, No flash, Tripod
Other: Sitting in a blind at Dos Venados Ranch in South Texas

Patti, Big Welcome to OOTB!!We have a great group here and you'll fit right in. I had to do a double look! Nicely done color shift and it now looks like a cranberry colored Cardinal!! If it were mine I might blend in the branch at the left of frame-so all the focus stays on the bird. Well done!!!

HI Patti and WELCOME! :)
That's a neat color change. I had to google the bird as I am from Australia and am not very familiar with a lot of northern hemisphere species. :) That's a migthy fine birdie shot too by the way. :) thanks for participating! :)

Denise, Thanks for the welcome and comments. I have admired your work for quite some time and learned a lot from you on the forum. And you are right, I knew I didn't get that Cardinal color quite right. :) Great idea about blending in the branch.
Akos, Thank you for the welcome, your kind comment about my photo and for a really fun theme. I need to post the original Pyrrhuloxia so you can see what they really look like. :D
I look forward to what everyone else comes up with.
Regards,
Patti

Patti,
Anyone who is dedicated (and patient) enough to sit in a hide and wait patiently gets my vote! :) I tend to avoid them as it is way too hot in Australia for blinds.

Hi Patti, I also welcome you to OOTB. A place to spread your wings and dare to be different. You did such a good job in combining the 2 birds I thought it was just a cardinal. Nice job in post processing. Good backround and agree with Denise about the rear branch.

Akos, It's way too hot to sit in a blind in Texas too. It was in the high 90s (F).
Cheryl, Thanks for the welcome and kind words. Here's hoping some of that incredible artistic talent will rub off on me. I tend to be more of an in-the-box technical shooter, so I'm trying to stretch at bit.
Dave, Thanks for the welcome and nice comments. I will have to work on that branch ... as soon as I figure out how to blend backgrounds. :D
Harshad and Kerry, Thanks MUCH! I feel very welcomed.
