Work is a bit on the slow side today so I popped up Photoshop and played around with gradients a bit and ended up with this image. I added the gradient, inverted the colors and then played with the way the gradient was applied. I blended a few areas with a soft brush and then tweaked the levels a bit.

Hi Jules, Love the glow on the flower. Has a nice soft colored look to it!! I like that you inverted it, it gives it a frosty look.I think it might be Rudbeckia Goldsturm.

Julie, I think the glow works nicely here and not a common effect. To have two subjects play back and forth and work well is not easy but in this case it works for me.

Very creative image, Jules. I really like the glow on the main flower and the smaller one makes a nice counterbalance. Thanks for sharing the original, too.
