I took this few days back... I was trying to keep the focus on the head. Settings were -
40D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm hand held
1/60 sec, f/29 Mode: Manual Metering: Evaluative ISO: 200 AF mode: AI Servo AF
Cloned out one other gull from the original. All C&C would be appreciated.

Indranil, I think you did well here. .You have alot of implied motion and good color tones. Sometimes you don't need the focus if you have the form. I don't know if I mentioned that -but here is a link showing no clear focus yet alot of form.

Thanks Denise. I have seen that. Also, Artie's CD covers this too. I think, it ultimately come down to personal choice as long as it is pleasing compositionally. This week I am trying both ways - just the form as well as focused on the head and see the feedback. All good learning.
Indranil, I looked over my past responses to your posts and was afraid I had left the impression that the heads had to be clear-just making sure I wasn't mis-leading you. I do think it is good to stay with one technique. You have a very creative artistic side and I have no doubt you will master BIF Blurs! They seem to be the hardest for me.
Denise, not at all. I had intended to post different BIF blurs anyways. Having all the feedback gives me the perspective that I missed earlier.
I don't mind the totally blurred bird at all. Nice sense of motion throughout and there is enough shape visible as said above. I think you did well Indranil. Thanks for sharing.
I like this one better Indranil, think maybe the previous posts had a little too much blur on them. You also did a good job of cloning, I can't see where. Denise makes a good point, I looked at the link and the birds are blurred (body) but the head/neck area seems defined giving your eye something to lock on to. Anyways well done.
