Gurra Gear Bag

Hi - Anyone using the gurragear Kiboko bag??? Wanting something that will hold a 600mm and body for carry on luggage on plane trips.

Hi Lance why don't you look into Think Tank?

I use a Roadrunner by Lowe Pro but I don' think they are currently made. btw you can fit the 600, two cameras, to medium tele, flash, converters, wa lens and lots more.

Do a search on Artie's bulletins and there are pictures on how he packs the gear. .... they do get heavy but I have not had a problem taking them on board !! For the small regional carriers you can check it before you board the plane.

I have a Gurra Bag on my wish list for later this year. It will save 7 pounds over the Lowe Pro Photo Trecker AW II I currently use! I have a trip to Africa coming in February where weight is strictly monitored. This will make a huge difference.

I have one. It is very light, well built and holds a lot of stuff. I find that it becomes very heavy with all the gear it can hold. It is a great carry on. It is designed to shoot out of on location, but you will find the 600 + body attached will not fit in the bag.

I have one as well. I agree, it is a great bag, fitted exactly to most carry-on requirements. The butterfly access is very handy and the harness system is very niec.

The padding is not as thick as the comparable think tank bags, so care must be provided when transporting.

Size wise, not many bags fit a 600/4 + body attached (and I wouldn't recommend transporting that way, as the mount is the weakest point). The Kiboko holds the 800 or 600IS very nicely.

Another vote for the Kiboko bag as well.
I took it to Florida just last month, easily holding two D300's with 200-400VR & 70-200VR attached and a heap of other gear too. Weighing only 4lbs can at times make all the difference.
I'll be taking this bag with me to Botswana in Sept and what I like most is that it will fit the 200-400&body on one side and the 70-200&body on the other side simply accessed by rolling back either half, great for when you have it beside you in a vehicle when quick access is needed.

If putting the load on your back is not mandatory, the Think Tank Airport Security is the way to go. I used the Roadrunner AW but with the TT, airline travel is a breeze. It have backpack straps but I would only wish that on my worst enemy. I cut the backpack straps out of my Roadrunner.

If you ned to put the load on your back, the the TT is not the way to go. Also for international travel it is too big - TT has one for international travel. But for US travel it is good to go.

This is why the Kiboko is the more suitable IMO, you can carry it as a back pack and easily fits for International and most regional jets.
