Does anyone us the CF tripods in salt water?
I read my manual and it said not to use them in salt water. Wonder why that is? Any tips and insight would be helpful?
Thanks
Bill

I just lost my second tripod to salt water Bill !!! All you can do is rinse them well with fresh water and taking them apart/lubricating will go a long ways.
I have two and use the older one for the water. btw you do have an option which is using the DryPods The heavy duty version will keep the tripod dry. To me they are thick and inconvenient. A lighter version is made which I like a lot but they tend to leak.
You can do a search within the forum and get lots of info. Rod Wiley makes them and he is about the nicest person on the planet !!! Great dealing with him.
Thanks very much Al, I will probably just use my Manfrotto and forget my CF for our trip to St Pete tomorrow. I do not think my wife would like me getting another CF yet. :)
In the interest of economy I use garbage bags (the big black ones) and cable ties if water gets in it means my thigh waders are also flooded and I tend to avoid that.
