Well, I've never posted an image on here before, so please tell me if I do anything wrong...
I'm visiting my grandparents in Ft. Lauderdale with my family, and set aside a few days for some bird photography. I took this shot yesterday in Everglades National Park. I have Paul Marcellini to thank for tipping me off on the location of this pair of owls and their two fledglings. This shot was taken just a split second before the bird took off.

Amazing image as a first post. The behavior is unique. While the bird is dead centered the balance of the image is not in the center thanks to the tree. Really nice. Bg is pleasant.

Welcome to BPN, Alex! Great first post, I like the pose, eye contact, setting and details. I might remove the twigs and needles sticking out of the bird's back and those in the upper right. Keep them coming!

Welcome, Alex. Lovely first image post. I like the intensity of the eyes and wings raising about to launch. Tree and BG have lovely contrasting textures. Not sure on the natural colours of the owl but the face seems to show a slight yellow/green cast.

It was great meeting and working with you today.
The owl looks even better on the Desktop monitor than it did on the back of the camera.
The tech were covered. I love the fact that you were not afraid to put your subject in the middle of the frame. I call this an "in your face" composition. A winning one at that.

Really cool image. I like the stare and how the limb above frames him so to speak. Nice detail under his wings with out blowing out the tree. Would remove the little needles / twigs URC.

Hey, Thanks for all the comments so far. I processed this on my laptop because I was kind of anxious to see how it'd turn out. I definitely now plan to clone out some of the twigs up there. Also, I'll probably tone down some of that tree trunk as it's a bit too bright, I think.
