Hi Steve Set the camera on Manual under exposing the subject Flash has to do all the work. If you fire a three images rapidly will see the difference.
Thanks,
I have been putting things on ebay and wanted to use flash as main light for them. It was not working. Usually, I only use fill.
Steve
...will give you a lot of glare Steve Best to use natural diffused light or shoot through a diffuser.
Hey Steve,
If your shooting inside just set the CAMERA TO MANUAL MODE and the shutter speed to 1/250. Thereafter, pick an f/stop for the desired DOF. The flash will be greater than the ambient, making it a main source.
Best,
Chas
Thanks, now what about flash as main light outdoors? Like when actually want the black background instead of background showing?
Steve,
You can make a background black if you light and expose the subject about 5 stops over the ambient background. Example- ISO 100 sun lit butterfly ambient exposure 1/400 @ f/8, and change to f/22 (3 stop) @ 1/1600 (2 stops)...under-exposing the ambient by 5 stops. Use flash @ f/22 to illuminate butterfly. Of course you have to work within the distance range of the flash to provide the necessary f/22 pwr output.
If the subject is light/dark adjust the flash output, if the background is light/dark adjust the shutter speed.
You really should take the Tech Series ;).
