Very nice. The light allowed for wonderful detail in both the dark and light areas. The eye of course is great. Sharpness is good for me, stem to stern. Great feet too.
Perhaps the smallest amount too tight for me, but since he is already crouched down, its just a matter of taste.
Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Great details and the soft light really helped here. I also like the pose and might give it a bit more room if you have. In the upper left is some darker diagonal line, maybe an OOF branch?

The overcast conditions really worked for you here Dave. Excellent exposure, and pin sharp. I like the posture, and well done on getting him FF.

Wonderful pose Dave. I always love their red eyes. The duckweed on the legs and the small perch add a nice touch too.

thank you for input friends, and yes Axel that is an oof branch.....should have fixed it.
And Stuart, a bit more direct light would have made some small shadow to enhance detail,
but I love the 50+ keeper images I have

I like this image a lot, Dave. The pose, even light, sharpness, and clean fore- and background make this a winner. I don't seem to have much luck with these guys. :(

Hi Dave!
Beautiful details, even to the gradient texture of the water. I really like the effect, and it makes me wonder what is beneath. I like it a lot!
