Here's one of my favorites from last fall - it's taken at the edge of a dam/reservoir on a large creek near my home. The high end was backed up with autumn leaves and it created a vortex where the water was being sucked down to the other side of the falls. I caught the image right as one of the leaves was being sucked in and the twist of the vortex made it look like the leaf was being stretched. Also, if you look closely, you can see my reflection on the top left corner of the vortex. :D
This is one of my all-time favorite images of 2008.

This one is a definite +10...a 10 for composition, a 10 for the quality of the image, and a 10 for the capture...well done...

Hi Julie...Great eye on this one. These vortex are generally overlooked and you captured it. As stated the rim light helps the image alot. I also like the submerged leaves which give the image depth and adds soft color. I'm not sure what is on the the lower left whether it's the edge of the waterline or an object in the water? Regarding the leaf thats being drawn in...you captured it at just the right time but based on the color and form I must admit I'm not sure I would recognize it as a leaf...

dave, I never really figured out what that was, either. It's either a rubber tire just below the surface or something that lines the part that goes from one side of the dam to the other.
