Nice image overall, but the small size of the kingfisher is a little ineffective as is the graduation of the water from light to the very darks in front (for me at least). Still, a hard bird to get close to. A slightly lower angle would have possibly provided you with a more balanced and brighter background from what I can deduce. MAybe crop even tighter into a vertical with the KF in the top right quarter of the frame? Though you don;'t have a lot of pixels of bird and quality may suffer somewhat. See what you can do... Would love to see more images. :)

I like the colours but agree that the bird is losing it's impact due to being so small in the frame. The branches bottom right are very dominant. I would crop to try and achieve a more even BG and eliminate the distraction of the branches - something like this;

Abithya, congratulations for thinking outside the box. A brilliant image mate, one that I wll remember for a long time

I was going to suggest a crop also. I like the example submitted above. Gives the viewer a little more focus on the kingfisher.

You know what? I actually love the original!! Great sense of space and solitude. To me this photo is about more than just the kingfisher and thus the small size in the frame is all good. Since this is already "out of the box" I would push the comp even further out there and actually crop out half the space at left and add a tiny bit of canvas at right to avoid the clipped branch. The complete branch at right would still balance out the inconventionally placed kingfisher quite well. I would also wish for a better head angle...but very well done in seeing this :-)

I'm going to have to agree with Daniel on this 100%. The photo is unique and unconventional, which really succeeded in grabbing my attention. I don't find the branches distracting, but actually find that they lead my eye into the gorgeous bird. Daniel's suggestions would definitely be worth a try, too. Great job on thinking outside the box!

This is one more vote for the original image backing up Daniel with the small modifications. This is an unusual picture that draws my eyes and my attention. Great work.

Adithya,
I like the colours and composition. The only thing that bothers me in this image is the bright portion on the right, I guess the reflecting rays. Without that, it would have been superb. Look forward to more.
