I like the perspective on this one Mr. Shadle...who is looking at who...:eek::D I like the out of focus bird in the background as an anchoring point and the pelican is in razor sharp focus with very good color rendition and a clear sharp eye...the play on the depth of field is superb...congrats...:cool:
James, I like the line created by the OOF bird and his reflection,your Pelican looks sharp and has a great HA. The vertical crop works well here.
I agree with the others. The only thing I might do is to lighten the shadow area that is behind the pelican - there's a slightly darker area below and behind the bird...I might even that out with the water so the front shadow gets all the attention.
This is cute as all get out!

Believe it or not....this works for me because of the HA of the OOF bird!....we can clearly make out what the distant bird is and the seperation and placement of the 2...is excellent. This is a tough one to pull off...but you did!
