I needed an image that represented "fire" so I let PS do it's magic on a leaf that I photographed at Selby Gardens. I'll post the original later in ETL. I added a fog effect, posterized the image and increased the saturation, especially the reds and yellows. I think it really looks like it's on fire. What do you think?

Richard, I think it looks like it IS fire. I love the added depth that the posterization gives to the image. As an added bonus, there is a strong sense of the "golden rectangle" to this image. This is a very strong graphical element that reflects a mathematical relationship between numbers. Think of the left two-thirds of the image as a square, and the remaining part as a rectangle. Apply that same relationship to the remaining rectangle and repeat the process until the image dissolves into a point where the eye ends up, which is about the third leaf element from the right. Very nice.

Nice vivid colors, Richard. I'd probably crop 2/3 off the top for a stronger image.

Very neat the way your mind took the edge of the leaf and interpreted "fire" from it. Now THAT'S thinking outside the box! Wild colors - and the "spray" above the "flames" really adds to the feeling of fire.
