Great capture and eye contact Mike. Lake Toho is by far the best place to see these beautiful creatures.
Wow - great shot! I second the eye contact part. I like that the body is facing the way it is with the head across the body like that. The Bokeh is great and the colors on the snail shell are beautiful I think this is a great shot! I see nothing I would change and wanted to describe what I like!
ps) I sometimes see comments on here when I lurk that are, not as useful and here is mine. (serious tongue in cheek) I would have shot a male snail kite as they are more beautiful and the coloration would fit nicely here. Back to serious mode - that is an AWESOME shot!
Great find, details and eye contact. The snail adds to it. I might try to get more details in the shadows and clone out the lower catchlight.
