Good idea to get the bird out of the center, I like the eye contact and might sharpen the bird a bit more. The reeds in the foreground crossing the bird are distracting. Keep them coming!
Good to get the heron in the gap without the face and bil being obstructed but the reeds are distracting. You've done well with the gear available. A longer lens and a portrait crop would have maximised this opportuinity.
Hi Rich - I like what you were trying to achieve here - as noted above some small issues. Looks lik he was a co-operative subject - make sure you maximise your opportunties when you have a co-operative subject - move around try different angles - Ive been known to lay in the river when the opportunity presents itself :)
