We have plenty of sanderling on the local beach at the moment so I thought I would have a go at some flight photos. It proved to be as tricky as I thought it would be!
Taken with 1Dmk3 and 500mm at ISO400 at F4 at 1/2000s EV+1.

Great pose, details and exposure control. I might increase the saturation a few points and could see it as vertical crop, too.

Like it, looks nice and sharp too, not easy to achieve on such a fast little flyer.
Nice work.

Wonderful execution Rich! I admire the wing detail greatly. :) And it is pin sharp!

Perfect, Rich. I LOVE the muted blues in the backgound.

Very nice shot Rich - good exposure, I am going there today, - hey don't forget the Stonechats at West Kirby to Red Rocks

Thanks for the replies. Wishing you luck with them Jon, although they might be tricky to find with the big tides at them moment as they usually disappear from their usual spot on the beach.

Great image from such a tiny, fast wader. Lovely colour tones with the grey/blues in the BG. Obviously a good panning technique - hope to meet you in the field someday.
