After seeing Julie's Orton Effect of (Not a Creature Was Stirring) liked the effect...I checked out the tips by Fabs on how to do an Orton Effect. This was my attempt..what do you think??? It does not have the effect like Julie's post, did I miss something? or looks about right? I've been at work for 9 hours..have had lots of fun with this Effect..Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Paul, the idea behind Orton is to give the image a dreamy feel and I think you suceeded here. The most important part is choosing the right image, and I personally think flowers and landscapes are naturals. Never though about using it in a moving bird, but you got it :)
I'd crop off the top and add a bit at the bottom for a stronger composition. Since the bird is going parallel, not up or down, it is more comfortable for the eye to have more base than top, remeber the gallery mats, thicker at the bottom?

I agree with Fabs...this is a nice try. I also use the Orton Effect on portraits but scale the effect waaaay back - just enough to give that dreamy, soft look to faces.
I'm not sure what all the gray at the bottom is. Try cloning that out and let's see if we like that even better!
Paul, I also noticed that you uploaded this with a small file size (3x2") and a high resolution of 300. Next time give yourself more like a 5x7 size at a 72-100 resolution. When you print, you need the 300 resolution but online anything above 72 works fine and it allows you to put up a larger print (usually as high as 11x9!
Go to the Educational Resources forum and find Fab's post on posting to the web...it will help you out tremendously!
