Leaf experiment

I was practicing Julies' duotone tutorial and got some good results. I then got brave and tried my own experiment. Opened this file of a dead leaf and made a backround copy. I then created a new layer using threshold, and adjusted its strength. I next reduced the opacity of the threshold layer and went back to the backround copy. I played with the saturation and shadow/highlights on that layer. Adjusted the threshold opacity, and strength till it looked right to me. It may not be a great file but I'm having a blast trying. I'm so happy to see someone trying their hand at duo/tri/quadtones! It's really so much fun once you get into them and this is why I love them...they take away the color and make you go for texture!

I love that silver & gold look that you ended up with here. I do wish that the bottom edge of the leaf would have had more room between it and the bottom of the frame. That's a minor point but it would have been nice to have it all inside with a little of the silvery BG framing it.

You keep trying! You've got such a good start here. I'd love to see you experiment some more with these type of images.
