Here's another view of the mystery succulent from Balboa Park. I was going for the rim light effect on the leaves, and liked getting some of the texture within the leaves as well.
Nikon D80, Nikkor 105mm f/2.8, ISO 100, f/36, 1/8s, backlit. GS conversion and slight warm tone in LR2.

I think you made your oint on the rim light, especially on the two front leaves. Good texture on the two front ones as well.

Very good composition Bruce,
I like the texture and contrast...your desired effect comes across loud and clear...good show...

love the lines and curves and the detail in the image. Might consider a version with traditional silver/gelatin effect ....

Bruce, you have a very nice composition and you don't need any advice from me- but I will say that the slight bend of the leaves at the bottom of the photo makes it perfect for me!

Me, too. The lighting is to die for. It totally draws my eye in and around the plant. I bet this would look good as a traditional silver gelatin as well.

For comparison, here is the same image without the warm toning

Bruce, I like them both but the second one has more appeal to me personally. To my eye there is a bit more contrast but that could be due to the greyish nature of the image. Good job!!
