I just picked up my new D300 and was wondering if I can leave the NR on high. Even though I mainly shoot 400 to 500 iso.
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael
I have NR set to NORM on my D300 & undertake any (additional) noise reduction as part of a post processing step. Although I prefer to have more control of the final output, not just NR, I will still be interested to see the comments of other users.

Fully agree with Wayne Would se to normal Remember Noise Reduction will affect sharpness Best to control how much and where.
The D300 performs well and has low noise, I'm comfortable up to 800 and will go to 1250 under good light conditions. At higher ISO you will be using noise reduction software ( I use NoiseNinja) but can produce a good image.
Michael
I shoot RAW and leave the noise reduction on normal.
The noise reduction does not even come on until you hit ISO 800 with the D300.

Michael,
On my D300 I use the NORM NR setting.
NR really kicks in at 800, so I normally move from 400 to 800 and do not use anything in between.
I have made some great looking 3200 ISO images this year with good light and optimal exposure.

GREAT!
Thats exactly what I wanted to know, I look forward to many great images with this camera.
Many thanks,
Michael
