The cold weather is here and the wolves are in the thick fur coats! Tazlina is special. She is curious, fast on her feet, very beautiful and she has the look. I was in very low light, heavy overcast skies, chilly in the forties and it looked as if was going to snow. We had flakes for a few minutes just before total darkness. I went to 2.8 on the 300 with the MK2n on the Gitzo Tripod and the Wimberley 2 Head so as to be able to do something different and still get some shutter speed, as this wolf never stops for more than 5-10 seconds for a pose.
I purposely waited for her to go into thick cover so I get a more habitat image. I wanted to give her a wild feel, yet somewhat of a inquisitive look captured in her expression. Some may not like the bg, but it is more natural looking to me. It is getting hard to get more than close or 3/4 portraits out of this group of wolves. i am waiting for snow and then catch some snow covered wolves!

Grady, She has such a beautiful face, her expression is great,and her eyes are so intense-really nice shot, looks good in B&W,nice and sharpw/ interesting BG. I don't think it gets any better than this.

You're getting very good at these, Grady! I'd suggest trying to get a little tonal range at both ends of the spectrum - I'm not seeing much pure white and pure black and I think a little of each might be nice. You sure have all the other tones covered and it's one fine image.
