Adobe Software - Problem Loading It

I just purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 to introduce myself to a digital photo editing tool for the very first time.

However, the CD will not load into my Windows XP Pro operating system. Without having to take my unit in to a technician for a remedial install, is there a procedure that I could follow on my own to solve this without fear of locking up my pc and getting into deep trouble?

The prompt that I get states that the "Windows Installer could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode."

Why would I not run Windows in a mode except a safe one? Leaving "safe mode" to install Elements 7 sounds scary to me for one thing, and while I have a reasonable amount of computer savvy, I do not own enough to venture into that corridor.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this blockage problem? Any and all considerations would be most appreciated. Thank you.

You do NOT want to be in "safe" mode. The way you get into safe mode is to hit the F8 key while the system is loading. If you did not do this, then you are not in safe moide. Also it usually says safe mode at the top of the screem. If you are unsure, just reboot normally. Then try it again. If it still does not work, try that CD in another PC to make sure the CD is good. You do not have to complete the install on the other PC just make sure it can read it. If it can then the problem is either the CD or the CD drive.

Safe Mode only loads the bare minimum drivers and system processes.

To install properly, I agree with Bob. Get out of safe mode.

If you are not stating in Safe Mode, you my have a registry issue in Windows.

After a considerable amount of troubleshooting, the problem was not the "safe mode" consideration. It turned out that, for some odd reason, my Windows Installer function was not installed properly.

Clara, my retired computer engineer friend, walked me through a phone tutorial to repair it.

My Adobe PS Elements 7 is now living comfortably out of its box in my pc.
