Impressionistic blur of fall leaves. The longer shutter speeds allow me to keep my focus on one particular spot prior to slightly moving the camera up, down, to the left or to the right to create the vision that I wish to capture. I kept focus at one spot for about 3/4 of a second before slightly moving the camera. That technique allows the capture of very distinct leaves and that small movement in the last 1/4 of a second gives the milky blur that makes the image impressionism.

Kristin, I think this is one of the best blurred leaf images I've ever seen. The colors are bright and saturated without going overboard. The blur is nicely done - you can still tell exactly what it is you photographed. It's very evenly lit...I really like this!

This is simply stunning, also one of the best impressionistic images I have seen. Thanks for sharing how you did it within that one second - you must have great reflexes. To my eye you have just the right number of leaves, enough to give structure and composition. Colors are beautiful. Now I've got to go give this a try! Thanks, Kristen.

Welcome to Out of the Box, Kristen. I first I thought it was a multiple exposure, great technique to create a stunning image. Let's see more :)

Kristen: Welcome and what an entrance! Really nice effect. Great composition and the colors are fabulous. Thanks for sharing your technique. I wish there were still some colorful leaves still around Denver so I could try this.
