I ran into this spiderweb this morning during a really heavy fog. I converted it to black & white because it had no punch whatsoever as a color image. I rotated the image from horizontal to vertical and did a small crop.

Looks great, Julie, I like your decisions about it! One of my goals is to get a good web shot - none that I've tried so far have ever quite worked. :(
I know what you mean, Anita. It's really hard to get one where the web shows up AND is in focus! I wish I could have stayed and made more images of this one but it was starting to rain and I didn't want to take a chance on being out with the camera. and no place for cover!
Right, Julie, as you know, there is almost always at least some breeze here in KS, and my experience is that when I try to shoot a macro, just as i get in focus, the breeze kicks up!! LOL! And the other issue is, as you said, getting the web in the right light with the right background so that it shows up! I've wondered if using flash helps in that regard??

Anita, I've never tried to use fill flash with a web. I have always found that it's the angle that's so hard...if you can see the web it's almost always at the worst possible angle to actually capture it in an image. I got lucky with this one...it was on a huge web hanging at the lowest branch of a tree so I had nothing but sky to contend with. I could move around and not get knee deep in a bush or a high field of grass. I think it just takes patience and a whole lot of luck!

This is very nice, and a black and white to boot. I saw a similar image of a dragon fly just recently, in color, with water drops all over it's body, waiting for the winds to dry off. Exquisite.
