Photographed in local eucalypt woodland. It was overcast so I tried some fill flash.

Neat image Simon. These are just gorgeous little birds. They are quite challenging as they flit around so fast - I have an NZ version that I will post at some stage. Fantastic background and I like how the perch blurs on either side.

Very nice Image. I love the complementary colors of the bg and the settings. The sharpness looks a bit weird. Maybe looks oversharpened.
Please, share more from Australia. :)

HI Simon and welcome to BPN.
Very nice portrait of a very cute warble. The clean BG really makes me focus in your subject.

Welcome, Simon. Beautiful bird and BG. I find the bird a bit too centered and might crop off the right a little bit. I'm sure the details look great at 100%, here it appears a bit oversharpened. Keep them coming.

Welcome Simon, great to see more Aussies on-line at BPN!
Other than it being a little too centered for my taste, I love the overall effect of the colors and the BG as well as the perch. You nailed it well. They are tough little buggers for sure.

Thank you all for your comments, especially those pointing out that the image appeared oversharpened. I had used Manyk's downsizing and sharpening photoshop action which normally does a great job, but with the fine feather detail things looked a bit odd. So here is an unsharpened version.

The unsharpened version looks good. The background works well with the bird. It's hard to catch these guys out in the open like this.
