We had this nicest oystercatchers on Long Island this summer that offered many photo ops. Trying something different here with the composition...let me know your thoughts.

Oh Grace, what a darling baby! His little scraggly tail is just too cute. Love the running pose, the gorgeous light and sharp detail. I am not as fond of this different composition. While I like the bubbly surf line, I think I would prefer a composition where the bird had more room in front than behind. Beautiful capture.
less room behind Grace, imo, but a pretty shot!
Great light and pose Grace. I like a more conventional composition here.
Adorable little baby just trotting along, love the edge of foaming surf. I agree with Linda about the placement, but a super shot none the less
I like the leg up and the little splash. A crop as suggested would be good.
Nice photo, nice background, great subject. Placing the bird toward the left (as already pointed out) would be be better. I would like to point out (on my monitor at least) the bird's colors seem over-saturated and there is what looks like sharpening artifacts, especially with the light colored feathers. I'm not sure that 1/640 sec was fast enough, even though you used a tripod and camera shake, etc was eliminated, the forward motion of the subject still must be accounted for. If, for example, you were using a lower shutter speed and panning, to purposely show motion blur to indicate motion, not only is this very difficult to achieve, the motion blur must be quite noticeable or it looks like a focusing or other type of error.
In this situation a fill flash probably would have been useful. A higher shutter speed, even if you have to open the lens to max aperture, would (in my opinion of course) help. regards~Bill
Light, pose, and eye contact are great. It looks a bit oversharpened on my monitor. I don't have a problem with the composition.
Thank god William Maroldo said preety much what I wanted to say, because my english has a limit hahahaha... stilll beautiful moment captured. Congratulations!
So Cute! Your comp. works for me I like the pose captured in mid stride. Well Done!
