This was taken last year in the Pantanal , Brazil. There are many varities of kingfishers and this is the female amazon. The male has orange on his chest and is larger. This capture was taken from a boat on the Rio Negro River.

What a funny crest these have and the "oily" colors on their back is amazing.
Wish we had more species of Kingfishers over here!
A little more headturn would top this off for me.
Well done getting this from a boat!

From a boat? Well done!!! As Jeroen said, a better head turn would've benn great, and the whites on her neck look hot but you can probalby save them if you shot in NEF. Congratulations still, a wonderfull shot!

Beautiful Judy Lynn. The light is great and the image is very sharp. Just love the birds details, the crest, the beak, the colors.
Agree with Jeroen about the sheen and the head turn.

What a beautiful kingfisher! I like your careful composition and the bg is very attractive. Sharp detail from head to tail. The white color is a bit bright, and a little more head turn would have been ideal. Quite a feat getting such a nice image from a boat!
