Canon 580EX Mk 1 problem.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or would know how to rectify the following:
I recently slipped whilst carrying my tripod mounted camera/lens/flash. Camera and lens were fine but 580EX snapped off at the foot. I ordered a replacement foot and fitted it.
Flash works fine except for two things; The flash defaults to manual zoom when the unit is switched on. I change it to automatic zoom and it adjusts to the different focal lengths accordingly but keeps resetting to manual zoom when the unit has been switched off and on again.
Second issue is I no longer have a distance read-out, flash works fine, exposures are good but no distance scale.

Initially I thought perhaps I may have loosened a connector whilst replacing the shoe, but I've re-checked and all appears fine. So I thought perhaps these faults happened when the flash hit the deck.
Has anyone had a similar thing happen and know how to correct it?
I guess perhaps a wire or connection may have come loose, does anyone have any experience of the inner workings of a 580EX Mk 1 and know what I should be looking for?
