I like the eye contact, pose and BG. The fish adds to it. I wish the near wing were a bit higher so it wouldn't cast a shadow on the bird's head and you could try to tone down the highlights more.

Bummer on the wing angle casting the shadow on the face and eye. Agree with Axel's recommendations also.
