One of the first shots I got from my (then) new 500f4. Taken last year at WWT Slimbridge, England, very early in the morning, just after the sun had poked its head over the horizon.
Seen here in typical habitat, doing what Bitterns do, sky pointing, when alarmed

Hi Martin,
Nice habitat composition. I find the bird to be dead centered in the frame, perhaps a little more to the left would help that. I really like the pose and details on this one.

I really love these birds they must be so difficult to spot in the wild
Lovely image :-)

Any Bittern image is a good one-Very difficult species to shoot and great to get one in the open-Nice one

Very nice behavior shot. I agree with Maxis on the composition and would add a bit more space on the top. Maybe a bit S/H to get more details in the blacks.

I think it is a very nice shot of a bird that is difficult find let alone photograph. I like the lighting that shows the detail of the bird. Too dead centre, maybe, but I would be happy just to have the photograph.

Wonderful image Martin. Cropping was mentioned but I love the strong vertical crop which really emphazies the elongation of the species and also the long grasses all play a great part in the overall look of this creation. Fine work !!
